At PhoenixNMR, we test designs thoroughly so you can focus on your science, not on your equipment.

In the first testing video, a rotor is tested to destruction. Don’t try this at home – these are trained professionals!

In the second testing video, a PMAS controller is put through its paces with a Bruker 3.2 mm probe. Notice the smooth transitions from one speed to the next and the awesome spinning stability at each speed – complete control!

PMAS Controller a Hit with Customers!

July 30th, 2020 Posted by Products No Comment yet

We love that our customers love our products! Thanks to David Halat and Chad Rienstra (NMRFAM, @NMRFAM) for their thoughtful appreciation of the careful, scientific design approach that goes into all our products at PhoenixNMR. Your science is in our hearts, and we are happy to see you back in the lab.

The PhoenixNMR Magic-angle Spinning Controller (PMAS Controller) is intelligent, just like you. And that’s why you appreciate PMAS in your laboratory. This controller thinks like you do and works with you:

  • Spin up and down and control speed purely in automated mode ; or
  • Start a difficult sample in manual mode, then switch to automated mode while spinning ;
  • Spinning profiles for PhoenixNMR spinning modules are programmed into the device, but you are not limited there;
  • Easily create your own spinning profiles for any MAS probe that you want to control with this device;
  • Is the tachometer connection to your probe unique? Contact PhoenixNMR to ask about tachometer adaptors for your probe.
  • It is time to have a controller that thinks and adapts like you do!

New! 900 MHz Data from 1.6mm HFXY PhoenixNMR Probe

May 29th, 2020 Posted by PhoenixNMR, Products, Technology No Comment yet

Below: aliphatic region of the 2D CC spectrum of 15N, 13C labeled alpha-synuclein protein monomer seeded from a brain tissue sample (250 ms CORD mixing), acquired at 900 MHz 1H field at the National Magnetic Resonance Facility at Madison (NMRFAM, @NMRFAM) , utilizing a PhoenixNMR HFXY probe fitted with a 1.6mm module and PhoenixNMR speed controller (PMAS).

The PhoenixNMR HFXY probe was operated in double resonance mode at MASS = 20 kHz; mixing time = 250 ms; total time to acquire spectrum = 20 hrs using 4 blocks of 1024 rows each; 8 acquisitions per row; pulse delay = 1.5 s; CORDxy4 recoupling plus SPINAL decoupling.

Phoenix NMR Announces Our MAS-DNP Probe

Phoenix DNP Probe

Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) signal-enhancement capability is now available in combination with innovative Phoenix Solid-State NMR (SSNMR) probe technology to expand the scope and sensitivity of biomolecular and materials SSNMR research at 400-600 MHz. The new Phoenix MAS-DNP probe system utilizes the same robust, professional design strategy that scientists have come to expect in all Phoenix SSNMR probes and accessories.

Phoenix NMR DNP Enhancement 13C Proline
13C CP/MAS DNP enhancement of 77:1 was measured using a PhoenixNMR 395 GHz/600 MHz DNP HFXY probe fitted with a 2.5 mm spinning module. Sample Temperature = 124 K; MASS = 10 kHz. The sample was prepared using 10 mM AMUPol biradical and “DNP Juice” = d8-Glycerol/H2O/D2O at a 6/3/1 ratio.

Overview of the Phoenix DNP Innovation

  • Add a new Phoenix DNP probe to expand capability on an existing DNP SSNMR instrument; or
  • Add a Turn-key DNP System, including gyrotron, to an existing 9.4 – 14.1 T, Wide-Bore SSNMR instrument, pairing the robust Phoenix NMR probe technology with Bridge12 Technologies components to complete the DNP package;
  • Combine DNP with HFXY and HFX probe configurations;
  • Optional Probe Accessories allow low-gamma nuclei and/or simultaneous H/F operation;
  • Operating Temperature Range is 90 K to 373 K (actual sample temperature is dependent on spinning speed);
  • 2.5 mm MASS Module is available for spinning speeds up to 25 kHz;
  • Insert and Eject Samples In-Situ at cold and warm temperatures;
  • Modest up-front Costs beat other commercially-available DNP probe systems;
  • Unique VT Design minimizes the use of cryogens to dramatically reduce operational costs.

PhoenixNMR signs agreement with Bruker Biospin

June 29th, 2017 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet

PhoenixNMR LLC is very pleased to announce an agreement with Bruker Biospin for the supply of PhoenixNMR probes on new and upgrade Bruker systems.  Under the terms of the agreement, which is effective worldwide, Bruker will offer PhoenixNMR probes to supplement their solid state probe product line. PhoenixNMR will provide installation and warranty service on its probes.

The unique capabilities of PhoenixNMR to provide full broadband triple resonance probes, with the ability to tune to < 15MHz, and to add simultaneous H&F capability, all in a standard bore format is a powerful matchup with the capabilities of the Bruker Biospin console and magnet systems. Take your science to new heights tomorrow by starting a conversation today. Give your local Bruker salesperson a call and see what they can do for you.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. John Heinrich, the CEO of PhoenixNMR stated:

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to supply solid state NMR probes to Bruker.  Our ability to provide advanced probe performance in standard bore magnet systems will provide significant new research capabilities to Bruker customers.”

Dr. Werner Maas, President of the Bruker BioSpin MRS division, added:

“We are excited to be able to support the NMR community with the expanded solid state NMR probe offerings from PhoenixNMR. The combination of these advanced probes with the Avance III HD or the new Avance NEO systems will lead to the ultimate performance and flexibility in solid state NMR and support our drive to broaden the use of solid state NMR in structural biology and material science.”

Your complete Solution for BioSolids Sample Packing

September 29th, 2016 Posted by Uncategorized No Comment yet

PhoenixNMR is offering sample kits in 1.6, 3.2, and 4mm narrow bore rotor sizes. These sample kits work with all PhoenixNMR probes as well as Varian/Agilent narrow bore probes. Calibrate pulse widths, set magic angle, measure sensitivity, and check lineshape. They are a great way to validate your system and can be used in troubleshooting whether there is a system issue, a problem with a sample, or the probe. If your probe has a deuterium lock channel, we have a D2O rotor utilizing our BioSolids sample spacers. An additional rotor is available to initially shim on Proton that aids in final lineshape on 13C. Looking for a different size than what is listed? Ask us, and we can discuss your needs.  Click here for more information
